US President Donald Trump on Monday called Iran's leadership "unbelievably duplicitous" and warned that the American naval blockade of the country would not be lifted unless Tehran agrees to "a Deal, or Total Surrender."
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that Iranian leaders had asked for talks to end the war, only to then claim publicly that no negotiations were taking place at all. He accused Iran of "usual blather" in insisting it controlled shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that the waterway was already under the full control of the US Navy.
"Nothing gets through to Iran, unless we want it to, and nothing will get through, unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished," Trump wrote.
He added that regardless of what Iran was willing to acknowledge publicly, the two sides were in fact discussing a resolution to a problem of Iran's own making. "Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are, in fact, talking of a solution to a problem that they have caused, for decades," Trump said.
