KTIRION 53 will present the Cyprus premiere of British playwright Alistair McDowall's All of It, a poetic monologue that follows the life of an unnamed woman from birth to death through a torrent of memories, thoughts and images.
First written in 2020, the play premiered at London's Royal Court Theatre before returning there in 2023 as part of a poetic trilogy by McDowall. The trilogy later travelled to the Avignon Festival.
A life told through memory
Written in a stream-of-consciousness style, All of It unfolds as a continuous flow of recollections, impressions and associations emerging from the mind of its narrator.
By turns fragmented, repetitive, humorous, awkward, candid and tender, the text charts the journey of an anonymous woman through every stage of life.
The production explores:
- Childhood and adolescence.
- Coming of age.
- Curiosity and uncertainty.
- Rebellion and sexuality.
- Marriage and motherhood.
- Divorce and everyday routine.
- Loss and death.
The play's experimental form offers a portrait of memory and the unconscious while inviting audiences to reflect on the speed with which life passes.
