Nicosia Book Fest returns for its 11th year, confirming its place as Cyprus's most significant institution for books and literature, and one of the country's leading cultural events. Since its first edition, the festival has grown into a lively meeting point for writers, publishers, artists and readers, drawing thousands of visitors each year.
The festival's aim remains to cultivate a meaningful and creative relationship between the public and literature, while promoting knowledge, artistic education and critical thinking. At a time of complex social and cultural challenges, engagement with the arts and letters offers a valuable tool for understanding the world, for expression and for creation.
More than 100 stands, more than 100 events
Nicosia Book Fest 2026 brings together more than 100 stands from publishing houses, bookshops, cultural organisations and educational institutions, giving visitors the chance to browse thousands of book titles and meet people and organisations from the world of books and culture.
This year's programme is expanded across all the festival's stages and spaces, the Main Stage, the Analogio, the Literary Stage, the Children's Stage and the Spilies Hall, and includes more than 100 events. Book presentations, discussions with authors and creators, theatrical readings, concerts, visual arts activities and creative workshops make up a wide-ranging programme for visitors of all ages, positioning the book as a meeting point with the arts and culture more broadly.
Spain takes centre stage
Spain holds a special place in this year's festival as the Guest of Honour of Nicosia Book Fest 2026. The opening ceremony's cultural programme draws inspiration from the richness and diversity of Spanish cultural tradition, with special tributes to the works of Miguel de Cervantes and Federico García Lorca.
Through literature, poetry, music and dance, the festival will present different facets of Spanish creativity, while also highlighting the cultural bridges connecting Spain with Cyprus and Europe. Spain will be at the centre of dedicated tributes, presentations and artistic activities illuminating its literary and cultural heritage, while Cypriot creative work retains a central role in the programme, with writers and artists from Cyprus presenting new and original work.
For another year, Nicosia Book Fest remains an open and free cultural space for the whole of Cypriot society, a place where books meet music, theatre, visual arts and creative expression, and where people, ideas and cultures come together.
