Inflation Slows to 0.1% in February

Price pressures ease as electricity and water costs fall sharply, while agricultural products record the largest annual increase

Annual inflation in Cyprus eased to 0.1% in February 2026, according to new data released by the Statistical Service, down from an annual increase of 0.5% recorded in January.

Compared with February 2025, the largest increase was recorded in agricultural products, which rose by 4.2%, while the largest decrease was seen in electricity and water, which fell by 9.3%.

On a monthly basis, compared with January 2026, the biggest change was also recorded in electricity and water, which declined by 2.5%.

Sector movements

Year-on-year, the most notable changes were observed in clothing and footwear, which fell by 6.8%, restaurants and accommodation services, which rose by 4.7%, educational services, up 3.7%, and transport, which declined by 3.7%.

Compared with January 2026, the largest monthly changes were recorded in clothing and footwear, which increased by 0.8%, recreation, sport and culture, which fell by 0.5%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages, which declined by 0.4%.

Inflation for the first two months of 2026 now stands at 0.29%, the Statistical Service said.
