Two bids were submitted on Friday for the project to complete the design and construct the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous motorway, from Agia Marinouda to Stroumpi, the Ministry of Transport announced.

CYFIELD CONSTRUCTION LTD submitted a bid of €124,850,000, while ARACO CONSTRUCTION CY LTD & GEOSTROY AD (joint venture) submitted a bid of €128,935,480. The amounts exclude VAT. The project concerns the completion of the design and construction of the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous motorway, Section 1, Phase (A), with a total length of approximately 15.5 kilometres.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the project provides for two traffic lanes and an uphill lane where required, with provisions for the future construction of two additional lanes, in line with the tender documents.

Specifically, the works include the construction of a grade-separated interchange at the start of the project, at the connection point with the Limassol-Paphos motorway near Agia Marinouda.

The project also includes an at-grade junction at the site of the future Tsada interchange and a terminal roundabout after Stroumpi, where a grade-separated Stroumpi–Kathikas interchange is planned.

In addition, the project includes five viaducts and two tunnels: one in the Tsada area with a length of 720 metres and one in the Kallepeia area measuring 250 metres.

The scope of works further covers the construction of four overpasses and twelve underpasses, along with stormwater culverts. It also includes the installation of road lighting, the relocation and upgrading of utility services, and related motorway works.

“The tender was conducted through an open procedure, with the award criterion defined as the most economically advantageous offer based on the lowest price,” the Ministry of Transport said.
