Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the war with Iran is still far from over, despite recent remarks by US President Donald Trump suggesting the conflict could end soon.

Netanyahu made the statement during a visit to Israel’s national health management centre as part of Operation “Roar of the Lion”, saying Israeli operations have inflicted significant damage on Iran and will continue.

Strategic goals extend beyond military targets

The Israeli prime minister said the broader strategic objective goes beyond destroying military infrastructure and also relates to potential internal changes in Iran. He added that the prospect of the Iranian people freeing themselves from the regime ultimately depends on the Iranian population itself.

Comments follow remarks by Trump

Netanyahu’s comments came hours after Trump suggested the war could end “very soon” and said the United States had already achieved significant objectives. Israeli sources indicated that Trump’s remarks are not being interpreted in Israel as pressure for an immediate end to military operations. According to the same sources, Washington appears satisfied with the progress of the military campaign.

Debate emerging over conditions for ending operations

As military actions continue, government officials say discussions have begun over what outcomes would be considered sufficient to conclude the campaign. Diplomatic sources note that as operations progress, the debate may gradually shift from the military dimension to the political level.
