The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on Telegram shortly before 01:00 that missiles had been fired from Iran towards Israel and that defensive systems had been activated.

“Moments ago, the Israel Defense Forces identified missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel. Air defence systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the statement said.

Sirens and explosions reported

Journalists from the Agence France-Presse news agency reported hearing air raid sirens in Jerusalem, followed by the sound of distant explosions. Shortly afterwards, the Israeli military announced that residents could leave shelters, suggesting the immediate threat had subsided.

Emergency services reported no immediate serious injuries.

Minor injuries reported during rush to shelters

Israel’s national emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, said it provided first aid to a “small number of people” who were injured while rushing to shelters. Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 television reported injuries linked to Iranian missile strikes near Tel Aviv, though it did not provide a confirmed number of casualties.
