A conditional ceasefire between the United States and Iran has been announced after 40 days of conflict. The agreement provides for a temporary halt in hostilities while diplomatic contacts begin. Oil prices appeared to fall following news of the truce.

Conditional halt to military operations

A 10-day ceasefire was agreed between Washington and Tehran, marking the first pause in fighting since the conflict began.

The United States president agreed to suspend bombing operations for two weeks on the condition that Iran fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran accepted the demand and submitted a 10-point proposal outlining a framework for negotiations.

The announcement followed an ultimatum issued by Donald Trump, who had warned that the United States would escalate military action against Iran.

Mediation and regional developments

The ceasefire was reached after mediation efforts by Pakistan, according to the information available.

During the night, Israel reported intercepting a missile attack launched from Iran. Israeli authorities said the incident does not currently affect the ceasefire arrangement.

Iran and Pakistan also requested that Lebanon be included in the ceasefire framework. Israel rejected the proposal.
