A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after people were attacked with a "form of pepper spray" by a group of individuals at Heathrow Airport.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Terminal 3's multi-storey car park shortly after 8am this morning local time (Sunday), responding to emergency calls.

Police - who confirmed the incident is not being treated as terrorism - said a number of people were sprayed with a substance by a group of men who left the scene.

The incident is believed to have been sparked by an argument between a group of individuals who are known to each other.

According to the London Ambulance Service, the victims were taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Heathrow Airport said its teams were also responding to the incident, and passengers have been advised to allow extra time when travelling to the airport and to check with their airline for any queries.

Tunnels to the airport closed down for a few hours,  while flow of traffic on the M4 was also interrupted. The Elizabeth line was suspended, causing major delays.

A doctor published a video of the attack on her son:-
