Hamas has requested amendments to the ceasefire proposal linked to the Trump peace plan and is expected to respond within “two to three days”, according to Saudi broadcaster Al Sharq.
The group’s senior military commander in Gaza, Izz al-Din al-Khandar, stated earlier this week that Hamas was likely to reject the current version of the plan. However, sources cited by Al Sharq say negotiations remain active, with Hamas seeking several key changes.
These include clauses on disarmament, guarantees for the exile or safety of senior leaders, and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
A Palestinian source close to Hamas told the network that meetings were held on Tuesday in Doha with officials from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who reportedly encouraged Hamas to agree to the proposal.
No official statement has yet been issued by Hamas, but sources familiar with the talks say regional pressure is mounting in favour of a diplomatic resolution amid continued devastation in the Gaza Strip.
