Ballistic Missile Fired From Iran Toward Turkey Intercepted by NATO Air Defence

Debris fell near the city of Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey, with no injuries reported.

A ballistic missile launched from Iran toward Turkey was intercepted by NATO air defence systems operating in the eastern Mediterranean, according to a statement from the Turkish defence ministry.

This marks the second such incident, with the missile entering Turkish airspace before being neutralised by NATO assets in the region.

Debris falls near Gaziantep

According to Turkish authorities, fragments of the intercepted missile fell on an empty plot of land near the city of Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

In its statement, the Turkish defence ministry said that “ballistic munitions launched from Iran and entering Turkish airspace were neutralised by NATO elements in the eastern Mediterranean.”

It added that some fragments of the intercepted projectile fell in an empty area in Gaziantep.
