President Nikos Christodoulides is due to meet Khassim Diagne, the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cyprus and Head of UNFICYP, at the Presidential Palace this morning as preparations continue for the next phase of Cyprus talks.

According to the President's official schedule, the meeting is set for 9am.

The meeting comes a day before a new encounter between Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman, and just days before the arrival of UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy María Ángela Holguín on 29 October.

According to a United Nations announcement, Holguín will visit Cyprus later this week, while a trilateral meeting involving the two leaders and the UN envoy has been scheduled for 9 November.

Meanwhile, the negotiators from the two sides are also continuing preparations ahead of the leaders' meeting.

Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelaou and the representative of the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Dana, are due to meet on Monday afternoon.

The latest diplomatic contacts follow two previous meetings between Christodoulides and Erhürman, which took place on 13 October and 20 October.
