Alithia, under the headline Annita Is the Clear Frontrunner, reports that DISY president Annita Demetriou remains the strongest candidate for the speakership of the House ahead of the 4 June vote. Elsewhere, it writes that three men of African origin jumped from the third and fourth floors of a building in Larnaca to avoid a police check. It also reports information that, in addition to foot-and-mouth disease, cases of sheep pox have been found in the occupied territories.

Politis, under the headline He Is Betting Everything on the House Presidency, reports that DIKO president Nikolas Papadopoulos put forward his own candidacy for the speakership during his meeting with AKEL secretary-general Stefanos Stefanou. Elsewhere, it covers the injury of three foreign nationals who jumped from an apartment block in Larnaca to evade arrest. It also reports that residents of northern Europe are facing heatwaves and record temperatures due to a heat dome.
