European University Cyprus (EUC) has secured a licence to establish and operate a university branch in Athens, the institution announced. The new campus, EUC-Athens, marks a further step in the university's international expansion and follows its formal application to Greek authorities in February.
A strategic investment in Greek higher education
EUC said the licence represents a significant milestone, reinforcing its international presence and reaffirming its commitment to high-quality university education, research and innovation. The university described the Athens branch as a strategic investment in the future of higher education in Greece, noting its long-standing ties to the country, including thousands of Greek students and alumni within its academic community.
Building on the Frankfurt model
EUC-Athens will draw on the university's experience, expertise and quality standards, as well as best academic practices developed through its Frankfurt campus in Germany, which has operated since 2022. With the Athens expansion, EUC becomes the only Cypriot university with two international branches operating abroad in Europe, strengthening its position as an international academic hub connecting education, research and innovation within the European Higher Education Area.
Campus and facilities
The EUC-Athens campus, now in its final stage of completion, is being built on a 50-acre site in Pallini, Attica. The facilities will include amphitheatres and teaching halls, high-tech research laboratories, simulation and clinical training centres, sports facilities, and advanced digital and technological infrastructure. The campus has been designed as an integrated ecosystem of education, research and innovation, intended to support interdisciplinary collaboration and build strong links with the labour market, the business sector, health providers and the wider community.
Four schools at launch
EUC-Athens will begin operations with four schools:
- School of Medicine
- School of Life and Health Sciences
- School of Business Administration and Digital Technologies
- School of Law
