UN Secretary-General António Guterres is due to arrive in Cyprus later tonight, with the UN in Cyprus saying attention now turns to the visit and the opportunity it offers to support further progress in the Cyprus talks. The statement followed two separate bilateral meetings held on Monday between the leaders and Guterres's Personal Envoy on Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín.
Preparations under way at Good Offices Mission
The UN in Cyprus posted pictures on X of preparations ahead of the visit, saying the countdown was on at the UN Good Offices Mission. "Final preparations are moving at full pace ahead of the visit of UN Secretary-General, with teams working behind the scenes to ensure everything is ready for his engagements on the island," the post said.

Meeting with the leaders set for Wednesday
Guterres is expected to meet both leaders on Wednesday, with a press conference scheduled to follow. During his stay on the island, he will also visit the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) laboratory and engage with negotiators, the technical committees, and civil society.
