Giorgos Mazonakis will be laid to rest on Monday in Nikaia, the city where he was born and began his life.
The funeral will take place at the Third Cemetery of Athens, in the Aspra Chomata neighbourhood, at the junction of Kotyoron Street, Thivon Avenue and Petrou Ralli Avenue.
Family’s wish
The details were announced by Charalambos Lykoudis, the Mazonakis family’s lawyer, who said it was the family’s wish for the singer to be buried in his birthplace.
Mazonakis died on Wednesday, 9 September, at the age of 54. His death has left a significant void in the Greek music industry and among the thousands of people who followed his career and connected with his songs.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death remain under way.
