DISY MP and former Health Minister George Pamborides has submitted lists of supporters backing his bid for the party’s nomination for the 2028 presidential elections, according to Kathimerini. He filed the documents a day after former party leader Averof Neophytou did the same. The two are seeking the party’s backing in an internal contest that will be decided next month.
Filing at party headquarters
According to Kathimerini, Pamborides submitted the relevant forms at DISY’s headquarters on Pindarou Street on Friday afternoon. The filing continues the procedure set out for the party’s internal elections.
Neophytou’s submission
A day earlier, Averof Neophytou visited DISY’s headquarters to submit the necessary documents.
According to his own statement, he delivered more than 3,000 signatures of support, carrying the material in five boxes.
Timetable for the internal election
The official submission of candidacies for the internal election is scheduled for Monday 26 October.
The island-wide vote to select DISY’s presidential candidate will take place on 28 November 2026.
