Police Arrest Two on Election Night After Officer Assault

Police arrested two individuals on election night in connection with various offences, including an attack on a police officer, during organised patrols across urban areas aimed at preventing serious crime and maintaining public order.

According to the Police Communication Branch, officers carried out extensive checks overnight, stopping 347 drivers and 103 passengers, while also conducting 30 inspections of premises, resulting in three reports.

During traffic operations, police issued 215 citations for various offences, while five additional traffic-related cases are under investigation.

Among the violations, 102 drivers were reported for speeding. Six vehicles were impounded, while 60 alcohol tests led to four further reports. In addition, two drivers tested positive in preliminary drug screenings.

Police said the intensified patrols and targeted checks will continue on a daily basis, aiming to strengthen public safety and ensure law and order.
