A 38-year-old man wanted under a court warrant in connection with alleged firearms and explosives offences has been arrested, police said on Tuesday.
The suspect was detained during a coordinated operation carried out by the Police Internal Affairs Directorate and the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He is expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court on Wednesday, where police will apply for a remand order.
According to Larnaca CID spokesman George Charalambous, the suspect, Charalambos Antoniou, 38, of Oroklini, was arrested in a village in Larnaca district.
He was wanted under a court-issued arrest warrant in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged illegal possession and transportation of a firearm and the illegal possession and transportation of explosive materials. The alleged offences are reported to have taken place on 15 July in Larnaca district.
The Larnaca CID is continuing its investigation.
