The case against Makarios Drousiotis and 'Sandy' was filed before a court in Nicosia on Friday in connection with allegations that emerged following a social media post by the author in March.
Members of the CID Headquarters appeared before the court earlier on Friday to file the case, while charge sheets have been served on both individuals.
According to information obtained by Politis, the two face approximately 100 charges between them.
The development follows a police investigation into allegations made by Drousiotis, who publicly named individuals in connection with claims of corruption and rape.
Police concluded that the allegations and the messages cited by Drousiotis had been fabricated using an application.
According to the investigation, the disputed messages were provided to him by 'Sandy,' who admitted in statements given during the police inquiry that she had supplied the material used to support the allegations.
