The Paphos Regional Board of Tourism has delivered eight specialised sea wheelchairs to local authorities across the district, providing safer access to the water for people with mobility impairments.
According to an announcement by the board, the initiative forms part of its wider strategy to establish Paphos as an accessible, smart and sustainable tourism destination.
Where the wheelchairs will be allocated
The eight wheelchairs were handed over to local authorities on Monday.
Paphos Municipality will receive one wheelchair, while the municipalities of Ierokipia, Akamas and Polis Chrysochous will each receive two. Chloraka community will receive one.
The board said its close cooperation with local authorities provides the foundation for developing a modern and inclusive hospitality model.
Investing in accessible tourism
The initiative is intended to improve access and enhance the overall visitor experience across the Paphos district.
By investing in accessibility, the board said, the region is not only upgrading its tourism offering but also strengthening Paphos’ international image while promoting social equality, inclusion and respect for every resident and visitor.
