Crossing of 1,250 Turkish Cypriots to Kokkina Completed

Around 50 minibuses travelled through the Limnitis crossing under UNFICYP escort for the annual commemorations.

 

The crossing of around 1,250 Turkish Cypriots from the north to Kokkina was completed shortly after 09:00 on Saturday, according to Andreas Karos, chairman of the Committee for the Opening of the Tylliria Crossings.

Around 50 minibuses passed through the Limnitis crossing under the escort of vehicles carrying members of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.

The crossing began at approximately 08:30 and took place in stages. Two media vehicles from the north were also allowed through.

The passengers travelled to Kokkina to attend annual events marking the anniversary of the Turkish air force’s bombing of Tylliria.
