36-Year-Old Arrested in Nicosia Attempted Murder Investigation

A 29-year-old woman was treated for bruising, swelling and haematomas before being discharged from hospital.

 

A 29-year-old woman was taken to Nicosia General Hospital after suffering injuries during an alleged incident in the capital. A 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Friday afternoon as police opened an investigation into several serious offences.

Offences under investigation

The alleged offences are believed to have occurred between 12 and 13 August 2026.

Police are investigating, among other offences, attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, deprivation of liberty with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threats and violence against women.

The woman was found to have bruising, swelling and haematomas on various parts of her body. She received first aid and was subsequently discharged.

Suspect due in court

The 36-year-old is expected to appear before Nicosia District Court on Saturday, where police will seek a remand order.
