Police arrested a 35-year-old Greek Cypriot man late on Wednesday in connection with the violent attack on food delivery drivers in the Mouttalos area of Paphos, which left five workers injured.
According to police, the suspect is expected to appear before the Paphos District Court, where investigators will seek a detention order.
Meanwhile, officers from the Paphos CID are continuing their inquiries as they search for other individuals believed to have been involved.
Attack began during food delivery
The incident occurred at around 8.40pm on Tuesday, when a 26-year-old delivery driver arrived in Mouttalos to deliver a food order.
Police said a man, accompanied by three others, allegedly refused to pay for the order and then attacked the driver by throwing a stone at him.
The 26-year-old contacted colleagues, who went to the area.
Shortly afterwards, around 10 men reportedly gathered at the scene, some carrying metal objects. Police say the group attacked the delivery drivers and damaged several motorcycles, knocking some of them to the ground.
Robbery allegation
The situation escalated when four of the suspects allegedly travelled by vehicle to another location in Mouttalos, where they encountered a 22-year-old delivery driver who had just completed a delivery.
According to police, three men got out of the vehicle, assaulted him and stole cash and his mobile phone before leaving the area.
Five injured
Five delivery drivers were injured during the incidents and were taken by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital.
Doctors found that all had sustained various injuries. Four were discharged, while one remained in hospital for further treatment.

- Unlawful possession and carrying of an offensive weapon

Authorities described the arrest of the 35-year-old as a significant development but said the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify all those involved and establish the full circumstances of the attacks.
