Scooter Rider Critical After Limassol Collision

A 56-year-old electric scooter rider is in critical condition after a collision with a motorcycle in Limassol, while police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

56-year-old man is fighting for his life in a private hospital in Limassol after being seriously injured in a road collision on Sunday evening.

According to police, the incident occurred shortly after 6pm in the city's seafront area. The man was riding an electric scooter on Chr. Hatzipavlou Street when, under circumstances that remain under investigation, he collided with a motorcycle ridden by a 35-year-old man.

Motorcycle slid under parked bus

Police said the motorcycle skidded along the road following the impact before coming to a stop underneath a bus that was parked at a bus stop.

Both men were taken by ambulance to private hospitals in Limassol.

Serious injuries

Doctors said the 56-year-old suffered a skull fracture, a ruptured spleen and a pneumothorax. He remains in critical condition.

The 35-year-old motorcyclist sustained abrasions and bruises across his body.

Investigation continues

Police said the 35-year-old underwent both alcohol and drug tests, which returned negative results.

The Limassol Traffic Department is continuing its investigation into the collision.
