Severe weather affecting Cyprus on Saturday forced 11 flights to divert to alternative airports, while several departing flights experienced delays, according to Hermes Airports.
Maria Kouroupi, Hermes Airports' Director of Aviation Development and Communication, said the disruptions were caused by the intense weather conditions that began affecting the island during the morning.
Asked whether any flights had been cancelled because of the weather, Kouroupi said none had been cancelled.
"Now that the severe weather is moving away, the aircraft are departing from the airports where they had been temporarily parked and are returning to Cyprus," she said.
According to Hermes Airports, a total of 11 flights were diverted.
Of those, 10 were originally destined for Larnaca Airport and one for Paphos Airport.
In addition, several departing flights were subject to minor delays because of the adverse weather conditions.
By midday on Saturday, the situation had largely returned to normal, airport officials said.
