New ministerial decrees set health-monitoring requirements for employees involved in vehicle painting and professional bus transport. Labour and Social Insurance Minister Marinos Mousiouttas issued the measures on Tuesday, defining the required medical and laboratory examinations and how often they must be carried out.
What the decrees cover
According to the Department of Labour Inspection, the measures are:
- The Safety and Health at Work (Medical and Laboratory Examinations of Employees Engaged in Motor Vehicle Painting Work) Decree of 2026 (K.D.P. 318/2026).
- The Safety and Health at Work (Medical and Laboratory Examinations of Professional Bus Driver Employees) Decree of 2026 (K.D.P. 319/2026).
The first decree covers professional, auxiliary and other personnel carrying out motor vehicle painting work involving chemicals that pose risks to human health.
The second applies to professional bus drivers employed in land passenger transport.
Required examinations
The mandatory assessments include a general clinical examination, together with specialised checks such as a full pulmonary function test and a hearing examination.
Employees must also undergo laboratory testing, including a full blood count, biochemical tests and urinalysis.
Each decree determines how frequently the respective examinations must be carried out. Both texts have been published on the Department of Labour Inspection’s website.
