Popi Neofytidou Christoforou, the mother of twins Miltos and Christos Christoforou, who were killed in the Mari naval base explosion, will be laid to rest on Thursday, 10 September. She died on Sunday afternoon after battling cancer.
Her twin sons lost their lives in the deadly explosion at the Evangelos Florakis Naval Base in Mari on 11 July 2011.
Funeral arrangements
The funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Church at 2pm, followed by burial at Agios Nikolaos Cemetery in Limassol.
The family has invited all those wishing to honour her memory to attend. They will not receive condolences.
Her final request
Christoforou had asked mourners to wear white and blue clothing at her funeral.
Instead of flowers, donations will be collected for the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, the Agia Marina Amiros Hermitage and the soup kitchens of the Holy Metropolis of Limassol.
She is survived by her husband, daughter and other relatives.
