A 45-year-old police officer has been suspended on the instructions of Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis amid an investigation into several alleged offences.
The case concerns an electric scooter that had been seized as evidence in a separate investigation and was being stored at a police station in Limassol.
Officer arrested during investigation
According to police, the officer is being investigated for suspected theft by a public official, abuse of authority, fraud and breach of trust by a public official, as well as theft.
The alleged offences are believed to have been committed in Limassol on 2 September 2026.
The officer was arrested by colleagues during the investigation and was suspended on Monday.
Scooter was stored as evidence
The electric scooter had been confiscated as evidence in another case that remains under investigation.
During subsequent inquiries, investigators established that the scooter had allegedly been stolen from the Limassol police station where it was being kept. The investigation then focused on the 45-year-old officer.
Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case.
