The figure corresponds to approximately 146,000 people, compared with 14.6% or around 140,000 people in 2024.
At European Union level, 72.4 million people, or 16.3% of the population, are at risk of poverty, a percentage increased by 0.1 percentage point compared with the previous year. Eurostat notes that the 2025 figures are flash estimates, as the most recent full income data relate to 2024.
These estimates show overall stability in the EU, with a marginal increase to 16.4% for the next reference period of the EU‑SILC 2026 survey, a development described as statistically non‑significant.
At member state level, the highest risk-of-poverty rates for 2025 are recorded in Romania with 18.4%, Malta with 16.9% and France with 16.3%, while the lowest levels are observed in Czechia with 9.6%, Belgium with 10.9% and Denmark with 11.8%.
