Unemployment in Cyprus fell further in 2025, reaching 4.4%, according to figures published by Eurostat on Wednesday.
The latest data confirm the downward trend recorded in recent years. Cyprus’ unemployment rate stood at 4.9% in 2024, 5.8% in 2023, 6.3% in 2022 and 7.2% in 2021. In 2017, it had reached 11.1%.
Across the European Union, unemployment among people aged 15 to 74 in the labour force stood at 6.0% in 2025, slightly up from 5.9% in 2024.
Spain recorded the highest unemployment rate in the EU at 10.5%, followed by Finland at 9.7% and Greece at 8.9%. The lowest rates were reported in Czechia at 2.8%, and in Poland and Malta, both at 3.1%.
