The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP Limassol) has launched a new digital tourism guide, unveiling a fully upgraded official tourism website designed to serve as the main online gateway for visitors to the city and wider district.
The platform brings together in a single digital environment the information visitors need to plan their trip and explore what Limassol has to offer.
It includes information on attractions, beaches, villages, hotels and other accommodation options, themed routes, outdoor activities, wineries, gastronomy experiences and practical travel information.
Through interactive maps and an events calendar, users can also easily identify cultural, sporting, culinary and other events taking place throughout the year.
AI chatbot at the centre of the platform
A key feature of the new website is an integrated AI chatbot that acts as a personal digital travel assistant.
The tool provides immediate, personalised and multilingual support, offering real-time answers and recommending attractions, hiking and cycling routes, activities, events and experiences based on each visitor's interests.
The platform is accessible via smartphones, tablets and computers, reflecting the growing reliance of travellers on mobile devices when planning and organising their trips.
Interactive tour of Limassol's historic centre
The website also includes an interactive digital tour of Limassol's historic centre, allowing visitors to explore the city's most important historical and cultural landmarks through an immersive online experience.
Part of a wider tourism strategy
Speaking at the launch, ETAP Limassol chairman Andreas Tsioloftas said the new platform forms part of a broader strategy to establish Limassol as a 365-day destination.
He highlighted the district's coastal identity, cultural and historical heritage, gastronomy, wine tourism, nature-based activities and business and conference tourism infrastructure as key competitive advantages.
ETAP is also pursuing a number of complementary projects aimed at enhancing the district's tourism offering, including:
- The digital revival of the archaeological site of Kourion using 3D technologies and artificial intelligence;
- The creation of themed photography points in wine-producing villages;
- New audiovisual material promoting diving tourism;
- The mapping and promotion of nature trails.
The organisation is also supporting communities affected by recent wildfires through initiatives aimed at showcasing their natural and cultural heritage and boosting visitor numbers.
