Cyprus Inflation Holds Steady as Eurozone Rate Climbs to 3.8%

Eurostat's flash estimate puts the annual rate at 5.2% for a second month, up from 0.0% a year earlier.

Annual inflation in Cyprus is estimated to have remained at 5.2% in September 2026, unchanged from August, according to a preliminary estimate published by Eurostat on Friday. The figure halts a run of monthly increases that began in the spring, and stands in sharp contrast to September 2025, when the annual rate was 0.0%.

Steady rise since April

Measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), inflation in Cyprus stood at 3.0% in April, 3.5% in May, 4.1% in June and 4.4% in July. It then rose to 5.2% in August and, according to the estimate, remained at that level in September.

Monthly decline in prices

On a month-on-month basis, the HICP in Cyprus is estimated to have fallen by 0.4% in September compared with August.

Eurozone inflation rises to 3.8%

Across the eurozone, annual inflation is estimated to have increased to 3.8% in September 2026, up from 3.2% in August.

Energy records the highest rate

According to Eurostat, among the main components of eurozone inflation, energy is expected to record the highest annual rate, at 18.8% in September, compared with 14.3% in August.

Services followed with an annual rate of 3.2%, up from 3.0% the previous month. Food, alcohol and tobacco rose to 1.4% from 1.1%, while non-energy industrial goods are estimated to have recorded inflation of 1.1%, compared with 1.2% in August.
