Since Thursday, access to the Retail Fuel Price Observatory requires government login, drawing criticism online.

Since Thursday, consumers wishing to view prices on the Retail Fuel Price Observatory must log in through the government's CY Login service, following a decision by the Consumer Protection Service. The change, introduced at a time of sharp and continuing increases in fuel prices, has drawn strong reactions from social media users, according to Alphanews.

What has changed

Access to the fuel prices published on the observatory is now available only through CY Login, the Republic of Cyprus's digital identification system for online government services.

According to an announcement by the Consumer Protection Service, CY Login allows consumers to securely access the available online services of the Republic of Cyprus without having to visit government offices in person.

Call to register

"The Consumer Protection Service calls on consumers to register with the CY Login service, so that they can continue to have access to the prices of the Retail Fuel Price Observatory," the announcement said.

According to the Consumer Protection Service, using CY Login:

Improves security through user identification.

Makes it easier to access the state's online services.

Saves time, as services are provided online.

How to register

Consumers can find more information and detailed instructions on registering for and using CY Login.
