Cyprus Temperatures to Stay Near 40°C Through Saturday

The warning will be in force on Wednesday afternoon, with mostly clear conditions forecast through Saturday.

 

Temperatures of around 40°C are expected to persist inland on Wednesday, prompting the Department of Meteorology to issue another Yellow Weather Warning.

The warning will be in effect from 2pm until 4.30pm on Wednesday, while temperatures are expected to remain slightly above seasonal averages through at least Saturday.

Wednesday’s forecast

Conditions will be clear throughout Wednesday. Winds will initially blow from the north-west to north-east, gradually becoming south-easterly to south-westerly at light to moderate speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort.

In western areas, winds will become north-westerly during the afternoon at similar speeds. The sea will be slight.

Temperatures will rise to around 40°C inland, 34°C along the western and northern coasts, 36°C along the remaining coastal areas and 29°C in the higher mountains.

Conditions overnight

Wednesday night will remain mainly clear. Winds will blow from the north-west and locally from the north-east at light speeds of around 3 Beaufort, temporarily reaching 3 to 4 Beaufort in some areas.

The sea will be calm to slight.

Outlook through Saturday

Mainly clear conditions are forecast for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will continue to remain slightly above the seasonal average.
