The MyHealth@EU service is now active between Cyprus and Greece, allowing cross-border access to medical data and electronic prescriptions.

A Greek electronic prescription has been dispensed for the first time at a pharmacy in Limassol through the European MyHealth@EU system, marking a significant step in cross-border access to healthcare services.

According to the National eHealth Authority, the development confirms in practice that citizens can securely and directly access healthcare services beyond national borders, allowing Cypriot and Greek citizens to receive prescribed medication while abroad. The authority said the milestone was made possible through coordinated work by the National eHealth Authority of Cyprus and Greece’s e-Government Centre for Social Security Services. The Patient Summary service has also entered full two-way operation. This allows healthcare professionals to access key medical information about patients, strengthening continuity of care and patient safety.

At European level, cross-border health services are already operating in 17 member states, with Cyprus having developed connections with nine countries. Full two-way operation, covering both Patient Summary and electronic prescriptions, is available with Greece, Spain and Croatia. Cyprus also has two-way access to Patient Summary services with Luxembourg and Estonia. Portugal allows the retrieval of both Patient Summary and electronic prescription information for Cypriot visitors, while Poland offers full two-way operation for electronic prescriptions. In the Netherlands and Ireland, Patient Summary retrieval is available for Cypriot citizens.

The National eHealth Authority plans to expand connections with additional countries by the end of 2026, further strengthening citizens’ access to cross-border healthcare services. The authority said the progress brings the European Health Union closer to citizens.
