The Health Insurance Organization (HIO) is in constant communication with all the involved bodies regarding the recall of pharmaceutical products, Senior Officer at the Directorate of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at HIO, Gnosia Achniotou, told CNA on Friday.
Asked about the recall of pharmaceutical products from Remedica company, Achniotou told CNA that the Health Insurance Organisation is in constant communication with all the bodies involved, namely the Pharmaceutical Services, the Purchasing and Procurement Directorate of the Ministry of Health, the company, doctors and pharmacists.

The HIO, she added, has already circulated two informational notifications for doctors and pharmacists "so that they are able to serve the public effectively and immediately".
The notifications, she went on to say, provide information about the available products in the list (either of the same substance or the same pharmacological category), as well as about the solution that already exists for one of the two pharmaceutical products, the only ones for which there was essentially no available alternative.
Moreover, she said that the information concerns the immediate availability of the pharmaceutical product Methyldopa, due to the existence of stock of other batches (except for the recalled ones) of the same company (Remedica).
As regards the the other pharmaceutical product, Hydralazine, which is a vasodilator drug for hypertension, “every effort is being made by the Purchasing and Procurement Directorate of the Ministry of Health to find a solution from abroad, within the next 1-2 months,” she explained.
Concluding, she urged the public to contact their physician to guide them accordingly.
Remedica said in a press release that the actions taken for all recalled batches of medicines were of preventive nature.
