President Nikos Christodoulides said on Tuesday that he remains in constant contact with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis over the presence of Greek naval and air forces in Cyprus.
Speaking on arrival at an event organised by the Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality, Christodoulides was asked about decisions concerning Greek military assets currently in Cyprus.
He said the Greek government had already made its position known and that consultations were continuing at both leadership and ministerial level.
“We are in constant contact on this specific issue, both with the Greek Prime Minister and at the level of the Defence Ministers. The first announcement has been made. When there are further developments, we will be here to announce them,” Christodoulides said.
The President added that he did not wish to comment publicly on the matter at this stage.
