The newly elected Direct Democracy MP said it was too early to decide the party’s stance on the House presidency.

Dimitris Baros of Direct Democracy has expressed his satisfaction after being elected to the new House of Representatives, describing the result as a historic moment both personally and politically.

Speaking to Alpha, Baros thanked those who supported him and said he was struggling to put his emotions into words.

“I cannot describe how I feel,” he said, thanking the people who stood by him during the campaign.

Baros said early indications suggested he had set a historic record by becoming the youngest MP ever elected in Cyprus.

“I think we have broken the record for the youngest MP in Cyprus, with the strength of God,” he said.

He added that he was entering Parliament with a strong willingness to work and contribute.

“I have a great appetite to be a servant of the people and to offer whatever I have,” he said.

Asked about the position Direct Democracy would take in the new parliamentary landscape, Baros sent a message of cooperation.

“I want to work with everyone. We are open to working with every person for the good of society and the people,” he said.

On the question of the next House president, Baros said it was still too early for decisions, adding that he was currently focused on the moment of his election.

“We do not know yet. We are enjoying the moment and, when the time comes, we will do what must be done,” he said.

Baros also referred to the atmosphere within Direct Democracy, saying there was strong emotion and joy among supporters.

“A lot of people came to support us. We are extremely happy,” he said.
