A closer look at the 17 MPs elected with DISY across Cyprus’ six districts.

 

DISY enters the new House of Representatives as the largest parliamentary party, with 17 MPs elected across all six districts.

Its parliamentary team combines returning lawmakers, former ministers and first-time MPs, bringing together figures from national politics, local government, the legal profession, education, finance and public life.

The result gives the party a broad parliamentary presence, from Nicosia and Limassol to Famagusta, Larnaca, Paphos and Kyrenia. Here is a closer look at the MPs elected with DISY and the backgrounds they bring to the new House.

 

Nicosia

Demetris M. Demetriou

 

Demetris M. Demetriou is a returning DISY MP for Nicosia and one of the party’s most prominent parliamentary figures. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and was re-elected in 2021 and 2026, topping the nationwide preference vote in the latest election with 13,157 votes. He studied electrical engineering and computer technology at the University of Patras and holds an MBA from the University of Cyprus. Before entering politics, he worked as an electrical engineer and was active in the publishing and communications sector. In parliament, he has served on key committees, including the Institutions Committee, and has also represented the House in European parliamentary forums.

Giorgos Pamporidis

Giorgos Pamporidis is a lawyer, former Minister of Health and newly elected DISY MP for Nicosia. He studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Southampton and the London School of Economics, including a doctorate in law. He has practised law since 1995 and has headed Pamboridis LLC since 2003, with offices in Nicosia and Athens. Pamporidis served as Minister of Health from 2015 to 2018 under President Nicos Anastasiades and is closely associated with the reform process that led to the introduction of Cyprus’ General Health System. He was elected to the House in 2026 as part of DISY’s Nicosia slate. 

Savia Orphanidou

Savia Orphanidou is a DISY MP for Nicosia and vice-president of the party. An economist and political scientist, she studied economics and politics at the University of Warwick, where she also completed postgraduate studies in international political economy with a focus on European Union affairs. She entered the House of Representatives in December 2019 and was re-elected in 2021 and 2026. Orphanidou has been active in DISY structures for many years, including in the party’s youth and policy bodies. In parliament, she has served as vice-chair of the Health Committee and as a member of committees dealing with finance, the environment and public expenditure control.

Andreas Constantinou

Andreas Constantinou is a newly elected DISY MP for Nicosia and a former local government official in Aglantzia. Born in Nicosia in 1982, he grew up in Aglantzia and studied at Intercollege, where he qualified as a Certified Accounting Technician. His professional background includes work at the Civil Servants’ Co-operative Credit Institution and Hellenic Bank. Constantinou entered local government in 2016, when he was elected first in preference votes as a DISY municipal councillor in Aglantzia. He was elected mayor of Aglantzia in 2020 and served until the 2024 local government reform. From July 2024, he served as deputy mayor of Aglantzia in the new Nicosia municipality.

Charalambos Petrides

Charalambos Petrides is a newly elected DISY MP for Nicosia and a former Minister of Defence. Born in Nicosia in 1974, he is a certified property valuer and real estate consultant and has been a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He also served as chief executive of Landtourist Group. Petrides was appointed Minister of Defence in June 2020, serving under President Nicos Anastasiades during a period marked by defence modernisation and closer international defence cooperation. He had previously served in local government as mayor of Aglantzia. In 2026, he was elected to the House for the first time on DISY’s Nicosia ticket.

 

Famagusta

Giorgos Karoullas

Giorgos Karoullas is a DISY MP for Famagusta and a returning member of the House of Representatives. Born in 1972, he comes from the occupied communities of Stylloi and Gaidouras in the Famagusta district. He studied education at the Cyprus Pedagogical Academy and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and also completed postgraduate studies in educational policy at the University of Cyprus. Before entering parliament, he worked as a teacher and was active in education and refugee-related issues. Karoullas was first elected to the House in 2016 and was re-elected in 2021 and 2026.

Nicos Georgiou

Nicos Georgiou is a DISY MP for Famagusta and secretary of the House of Representatives. He was born on 4 January 1983 and comes from Pygi in the Famagusta district. He studied law at Democritus University of Thrace and worked as a lawyer before entering parliament. Georgiou was elected to the House for the first time in 2021 and was re-elected in 2026. He has also held senior party responsibilities in Famagusta, having been elected DISY’s district secretary for Famagusta in 2019. His parliamentary work has included his role as secretary of the House and participation in the party’s representation of the Famagusta district.

Giorgos Lysandrides

Giorgos Lysandrides is a newly elected DISY MP for Famagusta and president of the Pancyprian Refugee Union. Born in 1983 in Limassol, he comes from Stylloi and Kontea in the Famagusta district. He studied electronic engineering at University College London and completed postgraduate studies in management at Imperial College London. Lysandrides has held senior organisational roles within DISY, serving as the party’s director of local government from 2010 to 2018 and director of organisation and administration from 2018 to 2022. In May 2023, he was elected to DISY’s political bureau. He had previously contested a Famagusta parliamentary seat in 2021, when he was the first runner-up for DISY.

Limassol

Fotini Tsiridou

Fotini Tsiridou is a DISY MP for Limassol and a lawyer by profession. Born in Limassol in 1979, she studied law at City University in London, qualified as a barrister at the Inns of Court School of Law as a member of Middle Temple and completed a master’s degree in maritime law at University College London. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Tsiridou was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2021 and was re-elected in 2026. In parliament, she has served as deputy chair of the Legal Affairs, Justice and Public Order Committee and as a member of committees dealing with transport, labour and human rights.

Giorgos Karaiskakis

Giorgos Karaiskakis is a newly elected DISY MP for Limassol with a background in party organisation, agriculture and parliamentary work. He has been active in DISY’s Limassol structures and served as district secretary of the Limassol branch of the Panagrotikos association. He has also worked as a parliamentary associate and as director of the political office of DISY deputy president Efthymios Diplaros. Karaiskakis secured a place on the party’s Limassol ballot through DISY’s internal selection process and was elected to the House in 2026.

Michalis Fellas

Michalis Fellas is a newly elected DISY MP for Limassol and a lawyer by profession. Born in Limassol in 1980, he studied at the Higher Hotel Institute of Cyprus before later obtaining a law degree. He joined the Cyprus Police in 2002 and has worked as a lawyer since 2015. Fellas has also been active in local government as a Limassol municipal councillor, serving on municipal committees dealing with European affairs and other local issues. His public profile combines experience in law, policing and local administration.

Michalis Kounounis

 

Michalis Kounounis is a newly elected DISY MP for Limassol with a background in sport and coaching. A former basketball player, he later moved into coaching and has been active in initiatives linking sport with society. DISY included him on its Limassol ballot as an appointed candidate, presenting his candidacy as part of a wider effort to bring people from different fields of public life into politics. His election adds a sports and community-focused profile to the party’s new parliamentary team.

Larnaca

Annita Demetriou

Annita Demetriou is the President of the House of Representatives, president of DISY and one of the most prominent figures in Cypriot politics. A returning MP for Larnaca, she was born in Troulloi in 1985 and studied social and political sciences at the University of Cyprus, before completing a master’s degree in international relations and European studies at the University of Kent. She was first elected to parliament in 2016 and, in June 2021, became the first woman to serve as House President. In 2023, she was elected president of DISY, becoming the party’s fifth leader and the first woman to head the centre-right party.

Prodromos Alambritis

Prodromos Alambritis is a DISY MP for Larnaca and an educator by profession. Born in 1982, he comes from Aradippou and studied primary education at the University of Cyprus. He later completed postgraduate studies in educational leadership at European University Cyprus and business administration at the University of Cyprus. Alambritis was elected to the House for the first time in 2021 and was re-elected in 2026. He has also been active within DISY, serving as a member of the party’s political bureau. His background combines education, party organisation and parliamentary work in the Larnaca district.

Paphos

Charalambos Pazaros

Charalambos Pazaros is a returning DISY MP for Paphos. Born in Chlorakas in 1977, he studied law at Neapolis University Pafos and also holds qualifications in business management and political science. Before entering parliament, he worked as a marketing manager in the private sector. Pazaros was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2021 and was re-elected in 2026, topping DISY’s Paphos ticket with 4,609 preference votes. His parliamentary presence is closely tied to the Paphos district, where he has focused on constituency issues and the party’s local representation.

Nicoletta Constantinou

Nicoletta Constantinou is a newly elected DISY MP for Paphos and a lawyer with an academic background in commercial and corporate law. Born in Paphos in 1986, she studied law at City University London and completed an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law at University College London. She also completed the Legal Practice Course at the Inns of Court School of Law. Since September 2024, she has been a doctoral candidate at the University of Cyprus Law Department. Constantinou has also been affiliated with Neapolis University Pafos as a member of special teaching staff. In 2026, she became the first woman elected to parliament from the Paphos district.

Kyrenia

Demos Georgiades

Demos Georgiades is a newly elected DISY MP for Kyrenia and president of NEDISY, the party’s youth wing. A lawyer by profession, he studied law at the University of Derby and later completed postgraduate studies at the University of Manchester, with a focus on law, human rights and international relations. Georgiades comes from Kyrenia and has also served as president of PAEEK Kyrenia FC. His candidacy brought together experience in law, youth politics, sport and refugee representation. He was elected to the House in 2026 as DISY’s MP for Kyrenia.
