ELAM’s new parliamentary team includes eight MPs, among them returning lawmakers, former local government figures, businesspeople and legal professionals. The party secured seats in Nicosia, Limassol, Famagusta and Larnaca, giving it a broader presence in the new House of Representatives after the 2026 elections.
Nicosia
Christos Christou

Christos Christou was born on October 19, 1981 and grew up in Politiko, in the Nicosia district. He studied radiology technology at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, now the University of West Attica, and worked at Nicosia General Hospital after returning to Cyprus. He is a member of the Cyprus Association of Radiographers and Radiotherapists. Christou was among the founders of ELAM in 2008, later becoming party president. He was first elected as an MP for Nicosia in 2016 and was re-elected in 2021. He has served on parliamentary committees including health, institutions, foreign and European affairs, and defence. He was ELAM’s candidate in the 2018 and 2023 presidential elections and participates in National Council meetings as party president.
Marios Pelekanos

Marios Pelekanos was born on August 21, 1979 and grew up in Ayios Vasileios, Strovolos. He studied Financial Services at the University of Manchester and holds professional qualifications from the London Institute of Banking and Finance and the Institute of Certified Professional Managers in the United States. He worked in the banking sector and later in insolvency and financial consultancy. Pelekanos served as government spokesman under former President Nicos Anastasiades and was first vice-president of DISY before joining ELAM. He later became head of ELAM’s Press and Communications Office and a member of the party’s Political Council. He was elected to Parliament with ELAM in 2026.
Andreas Papacharalambous

Andreas Papacharalambous was born in Strovolos on May 20, 1975. He graduated from the English School in Nicosia and studied Business Administration at the University of Reading, before completing postgraduate studies in European Politics at the London School of Economics. He worked as managing director in a family business and later became active in local government. Papacharalambous served as a Strovolos municipal councillor from 2002 to 2016 and was deputy mayor between 2012 and 2016. He was elected mayor of Strovolos in 2016 and served from 2017 to 2024. He joined ELAM ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections and was elected as one of the party’s MPs for Nicosia.
Limassol
Polys Anogyriatis

Polys Anogyriatis was born in Limassol on June 4, 1980 and has roots in Anogyra and Pissouri. He graduated from Ayios Ioannis Lyceum in Limassol and served in the National Guard’s Supply and Transport Corps. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Thessaly and a master’s degree from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. Professionally, he has been active in business as chief executive of a food production company with export activity and as the owner of a chain of optical stores across Cyprus. He has also been involved in social and charitable work supporting vulnerable groups, children and families in need. Anogyriatis is a member of ELAM’s Central Committee and served as the party’s Limassol district official from 2021 to 2025.
Evgenios Hamboullas

Evgenios Hamboullas was born in Famagusta on January 12, 1969 and lives in Limassol. After graduating from the Fifth Lyceum of Limassol, he served in the Underwater Demolition Team as a non-commissioned officer and instructor. He studied Economics and International Relations at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. In 1993, he founded a business in the chemicals and cleaning products sector, while also becoming active in land development. Hamboullas served as a Limassol municipal councillor from 2001 to 2014 and represented the city in the Union of Cyprus Municipalities. He was elected MP for Famagusta in 2014, serving until 2016. In 2025, he left DISY and joined ELAM.
Famagusta
Linos Ioannis Hatzigeorgiou

Linos Ioannis Hatzigeorgiou was born on May 14, 1997 in Paralimni and comes from occupied Famagusta. He graduated from Xenion High School in Paralimni and completed his military service in 2016. He studied Law at European University Cyprus, graduating in 2020, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Commercial Law from the University of Sunderland. Professionally, he works as a practising lawyer, handling cases across criminal law, civil claims, corporate and commercial law, banking law and property matters. He joined ELAM at a young age and has served as president of the party’s youth front. He is also deputy press spokesman, a member of the Political Council and an official in the party’s Famagusta district committee.
Linos Papayiannis

Linos Papayiannis was born in Paralimni on June 27, 1988 and has roots in occupied Famagusta, specifically Ayia Zoni. He studied Business Administration and Accounting at Manchester Metropolitan University and worked as a director in a private company before entering Parliament. He was first elected as an ELAM MP for Famagusta in 2016 and has served on parliamentary committees dealing with agriculture, the environment and House regulations. He also chaired the ad hoc committee on the demographic issue. Papayiannis has taken part in conferences on the Cyprus problem, the economy and low birth rates. He has been active in ELAM since its founding, serving as the party’s Famagusta district secretary since 2010 and as a member of its Political Bureau since 2011.
Larnaca
Sotiris Ioannou

Sotiris Ioannou was born in Larnaca on March 23, 1995. He studied Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus and worked as a parliamentary associate before his election. He joined ELAM from a young age and served as president of the party’s youth front from 2014 to 2019, before becoming deputy press spokesman from 2019 to 2021. In 2016, he was elected to Larnaca Municipal Council. He has been an ELAM MP for Larnaca since 2021, when he became the youngest person ever elected to the House of Representatives. In Parliament, he has served on committees dealing with finance, labour, legal affairs and refugees.
