DISY accuses AKEL of fuelling political polarisation and launching an early 2028 campaign, insisting it remains committed to accountability and institutional integrity.

The Democratic Rally accuses AKEL of trying to shape a political narrative through polarisation, exaggeration and the cultivation of a constant climate of confrontation.

The Democratic Rally (DISY) has issued a sharp response to AKEL’s statement regarding the findings of the Anti-Corruption Authority, which included references to a cover-up. The right-wing party accuses AKEL of political polarisation, exaggeration and a selective stance toward institutions.

In its statement, DISY says AKEL “appears to have already launched its election campaign for 2028,” attempting, as it claims, to shape a political narrative through polarisation, exaggeration and the fostering of a climate of ongoing confrontation.

At the same time, it notes that “citizens do not want toxicity, nihilism or populism,” but seriousness, responsibility and solutions to their everyday problems.

DISY makes pointed remarks, arguing that “AKEL’s greatest political weakness is not that it demands accountability, but that it demands it only when it concerns others,” adding that “AKEL’s greatest political weakness is not that it questions institutions, but that it does so only when they do not serve its party narrative.”

Meanwhile, the Democratic Rally stresses that it remains firmly committed to transparency, accountability and respect for institutions, noting that “everything should be investigated and everything judged on the basis of real data and legal procedures, without exceptions and without double standards.”
