Timing has drawn attention to an image reportedly shared by Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform, as it circulated during Pride Month.

Trump has frequently posted self-promotional, AI-generated images portraying himself in exaggerated roles – from a soldier to a Jedi, Superman and even Jesus.

The latest image, styled as an oil painting, shows him in American football gear, wearing stars-and-stripes shorts and a jersey marked “47,” with shirtless male cheerleaders behind him.

The image quickly went viral online, with many users remarking on its camp tone and linking it to Pride Month, which takes place in June.

Screenshots spread widely even after the image was reportedly removed, although some questioned whether the post was genuine.

Fact-checking groups later found no evidence that Trump himself posted the image, with the viral version traced back to social media accounts known for satirical or trolling content. As stated by fact checking organisation Snopes, "the image used in the fake post appeared to orgininate from an X account that frequently publishes content intended to troll Trump and his supporters. While it is not labeled as a parody account, a cursory scroll through the feed makes its intentions clear. The image was then recontextualized to appear as though Trump posted it."

Despite this, the image triggered a wave of online reactions, including ironic comments linking it to LGBTQ+ issues and contrasting it with previous political positions.
