Tehran says attacks were carried out in retaliation for US air strikes on Iranian territory.

Iran's military said on Saturday it had targeted a US-operated air base in Bahrain in retaliation for recent American air strikes on Iranian territory, according to Iranian state television.

State media reported that explosive-laden drones struck aircraft shelters and parking areas used by the US Air Force at Sheikh Isa Air Base, describing the facility as one of the United States' most important operational and logistical hubs for both the US Air Force and the US Navy in the region.

Iranian state media also reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted the Batelco intelligence data centre in Bahrain, a US Navy fuel supply pier at Al Ahmadi port, and a US communications centre in Kuwait.

Counter strikes

Earlier on Saturday, Iran's military announced that it had also launched strikes against military targets in Kuwait and Jordan, describing the attacks as retaliation for US bombing raids on the territory of the Islamic Republic.

According to a statement carried by Iranian state television on its Telegram channel, Iranian forces targeted the Al Udairi military base and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, as well as Al Azraq Air Base in eastern Jordan.

The claims have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate confirmation from US, Bahraini, Kuwaiti or Jordanian authorities.
