Foreign Ministry stresses need to protect civilians and freedom of navigation.

Cyprus has strongly condemned attacks by Yemen's Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia and the internationally recognised Government of Yemen.

In a post on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure was unacceptable.

“Cyprus expresses its full solidarity with the affected countries and their people and underlines the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation and respecting international law, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS),” the ministry said.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and concerns over the security of maritime routes in the Red Sea and surrounding waters.
