Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that the Middle East does not need the United States to act as a “regional policeman”, as the two countries remain at war and compete for control of the Strait of Hormuz.
“We do not need a regional policeman. The region’s territorial integrity and security can only be guaranteed by its principal actors and constituent countries,” Pezeshkian said on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
