New allegations have emerged against Ilias Theodoropoulos, owner of the Stem Cell clinic on Karneadou Street, where Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis suffered cardiac arrest and died on Wednesday afternoon, 9 September 2026.
A former patient told SKAI television’s Report at 10 programme that the doctor was particularly well known among wealthy circles and repeatedly claimed he ranked “below God”.
According to Proto Thema, the same witness also described the case of a woman with aggressive breast cancer who was allegedly advised to undergo a treatment involving bowel cleansing and vitamins.
The woman claimed the doctor was highly sceptical of established medical treatments while expressing strong confidence in his own methods.
“First comes God, then me,” he allegedly told patients repeatedly, according to the witness, in an apparent effort to build confidence in the treatments he recommended.
Allegations over treatment costs
The witness said the proposed treatment cost approximately €3,000. She also alleged that the doctor claimed bowel cleansing could contribute effectively to treating cancer.
She further alleged that she was advised to take more than 50 vitamins a day, at what she described as a particularly high overall cost.
“The doctor was and remains a celebrity among wealthy circles. He said it again and again, that he was below God,” the woman said, according to Proto Thema.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the relevant authorities examining the available evidence and the circumstances preceding Mazonakis’s cardiac arrest and death.
