Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation on Wednesday with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, focusing, among other issues, on trilateral cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.
According to a post published on X on Thursday by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers stressed the importance of convening a Trilateral Ministerial Meeting in the near future. The aim, they noted, would be to address current regional developments, with particular emphasis on the Eastern Mediterranean.
Within the framework of the Strategic Partnership between Greece and Egypt, Gerapetritis and Abdelatty also reviewed bilateral issues and exchanged views on wider regional developments. Both ministers expressed their willingness to further strengthen and broaden bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.
Earlier on Wednesday, Cyprus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos also held a telephone conversation with Abdelatty. In a separate post on X, Kombos confirmed that the two sides agreed on the need to hold a Trilateral Ministerial Meeting between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt, to take place in Cairo in the coming period.
The coordinated contacts highlight renewed momentum behind the trilateral framework, as the three countries seek closer alignment on regional stability, energy and security issues in a rapidly shifting geopolitical environment.
