Almost 70% of the flagship actions announced by the President of the Republic for 2025 have either been fully implemented or are at the final stage of implementation, according to Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki.

Speaking after a special Cabinet meeting held on Friday under President Nikos Christodoulides, Piki said that 47 out of the 88 flagship actions announced have already been completed, while a further 12 are expected to be finalised in the coming weeks. This would bring the overall implementation rate to approximately 67%.

Flagship reforms nearing completion

Among the actions already delivered, Piki highlighted tax reform, changes to the teacher evaluation system, and significant progress in the digital transition of the state.

She stressed that government planning is being translated into measurable results and concrete policies with a direct impact on citizens’ everyday lives.

No room for complacency, President tells Cabinet

During the meeting, the President underlined that progress achieved so far must not lead to complacency.

According to Piki, he was clear that the results delivered to date should serve as a foundation for even greater efficiency, adding that in certain sectors faster implementation, stronger coordination, and strict adherence to timelines are required to ensure timely and meaningful outcomes for citizens.

In this context, the President called on all Cabinet members to intensify their efforts.

Monitoring and transparency through “diakivernisi”

Piki reminded that the progress of all government actions is publicly accessible through the “diakivernisi” website, forming part of a continuous framework of evaluation, readjustment, and improvement aimed at ensuring effective policy implementation.

EU Presidency preparations described as a national mission

Special reference was also made to the extensive preparations carried out over the past year for Cyprus’ assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Piki described the undertaking as a “national mission,” noting that its successful delivery requires a high level of administrative readiness, institutional coordination, and strategic planning—elements she said are reflected in the broader execution of government policy.

February 5 announcement and March assessment

The President of the Republic will present the annual planning for the government’s fourth year in office on February 5. A comprehensive assessment of overall government performance will follow in March, marking three years since the administration took office.

All flagship policies announced for the coming year will fall under five strategic priorities:

  • Defence, security and foreign policy

  • A strong and resilient economy

  • Modernisation of the state and reforms

  • Transparency, accountability and prevention of corruption

  • Prosperity for the country and the citizen, through continuous improvement of everyday life

The February 5 address is expected to outline how these priorities will shape the government’s agenda for the year ahead.
