Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos said all possibilities and available scope will be fully utilised to deliver positive developments and concrete results in cooperation between Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates, following the conclusion of an interministerial working visit to Abu Dhabi.

In a recorded statement issued after the visit, Kombos said the mission was carried out in the framework of implementing the Joint Action Plan agreed between the two countries. He noted that the visit, which concluded on Saturday, followed the official visit of the UAE president to Cyprus and the signing of the Cyprus–UAE strategic cooperation agreement.

Kombos said the Cypriot delegation included the minister of energy, the minister of agriculture and the deputy minister for innovation, underlining that the visit was part of a broader effort to translate political commitments into practical cooperation.

He added that on Friday he signed an umbrella agreement with his UAE counterpart concerning strategic cooperation in the energy sector.

According to Kombos, meetings held on Saturday included talks with the UAE minister of investment, the minister of innovation and technology, the head of the National Investment Fund and the head of the national energy company.

“We discussed a range of issues related to the energy sector, issues related to desalination, and matters connected with advanced technologies,” he said. The objective, he added, is to exhaust every possibility and all available scope in order to deliver specific and tangible outcomes.

Kombos stressed that political will exists on both sides, describing it as clear and evident at the highest level.

Concluding his statement, the foreign minister said efforts will continue and all available avenues will be explored to ensure that the cooperation between Cyprus and the UAE leads to positive developments and concrete results.
